Bio for MEC Alphonse J. Quenneville

2024

MEC Alphonse Quenneville was born on May 3rd, 1953, on Bell Island, Newfoundland. A year later, his family moved to rural Quebec, but you can still detect a trace of that Newfoundland sense of humor in him. As the oldest of six children, Alphonse developed a strong sense of independence at a young age, working from dawn to dusk on a dairy farm in Quebec.

Due to the political strife in Quebec, his family relocated to Galt, Ontario, in 1968. After graduating from Galt Collegiate Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Ontario, in 1973, Alphonse moved to British Columbia. He attended Vancouver Community College and later studied electronics at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

He began his career in telecommunications as a contractor for Rogers Communications. After a few years, he became a full-time employee and eventually progressed to managing the Engineering Division for Rogers Communications on the West Coast of Canada. After 35 years in the telecommunications industry, Alphonse decided it was time for a change. He pursued his interest in real estate investment, studying at the Sauder School of Business at UBC, and worked in the real estate industry until his retirement in May 2023.

In 1978, Alphonse married Janet, the love of his life. They have two sons: Vincent, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Psychology from UBC in 2021, and Matthew, who earned his PhD in Astrophysics from Berkeley, California, in 2022.

Alphonse enjoys many activities, including York Rite Masonry, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, motorcycling, ham radio, and most of all, RVing with Janet.

And of course, he loves the York Rite and all of its bodies.
