Bio:

  • Born in Brampton Bierlow, South Yorkshire (about 12 miles NE of Sheffield)
  • Attended Wombwell High School
  • Joined the Royal Navy 1963 as an Engine Room Artificer Apprentice
  • Emigrated to Canada 1967
  • Went back to sea as an engineer office on Merchant ships in 1973
  • Acquired a First Class certificate as a Marine Engineer 1980 and sailed as chief engineer on several vessels until being recruited by the federal department of Supply and Services as a Technical Inspector in 1983
  • Retired in 2012

  • Two terms as member of board of the Royal Arch Masonic Homes Society
  • Past president, and still member of the strata council in the building in live in
  • Formed and organizes a seniors cycling group since 2007

  • Instructor at Georgian College, Owen Sound Ontario; and BCIT in Marine Engineering subjects.
